Salesforce has announced that in Winter 18 release the ‘Notes and attachments’ related list will no longer have a upload attachment button and users will be required to follow salesforce files after this.
Through this salesforce gives a good option as Salesforce file gives user more capability to share, preview and revise their uploaded files.
By using Attachment Converter App the users will be able to convert their salesforce attachments belonging to standard and custom objects into files with simple point and click user interface.
It also provides user to delete their old attachments after conversion. This way the users will save their time by without going through each attachment manually to migrate into files.
It is a free app and this app is accessible for the admins of Salesforce Org only. It is available for download from Salesforce AppExchange.
Before installing the app a user needs to perform the following settings:

Enable Email to Case: For this Go to Setup > cases > Email-to-Case > Edit > check the checkbox Enable Email-to-Case > Save.
It is done as EmailMessage is used in the app code.
- Add Files to pagelayout: Add related list section of file in page layouts of objects.

Optional Setting: This Allows file uploads to go to salesforce files instead of attachments. For this go to Setup>General setting > Edit> enable the checkbox > Save.
The app offers the following functionalities:

Convert Object Attachment: The functionality of this tab includes the conversion of selected objects into the Files. This tab displays the checkboxes besides the object name to select the object for
which the user wants the conversion and it also displays the total no of attachments for the particular objects which have not been converted into the Files.
Note: There exists a limit of how many versions can be published in 24 hours. It is 2500 for Developer edition and 36,000 for Personal edition . -
Delete Object Attachment: Through this enable the checkboxes besides the object name to delete the attachments which have been converted into the files.This tab displays the checkboxes besides the object name to
select the object for which the user wants the deletion and it also displays the total no of attachments for the particular objects which have been converted into the Files.
Precaution: The users should ensure before performing the deletion functionality if their older attachments have been converted or not.
- Convert Attachments File Logs: This tab generates the error logs while conversion or deletion of attachments. Any standard error while processing will show in this tab.
The above functionalities will help users to save their manual efforts of converting each attachment manually with simple point and click interface.
